In creating my back to school mantel... I wanted to make this Sunburst Sunflower. I really do love sunflowers. I think they are absolutely beautiful! I made several wreaths back before I was blogging that hang on my front door this time of year... and so I wanted to add a sunflower into my back-to-school mantle to tie it all in.
It was an easy craft and I love the depth it gave to my mantel.
If you want to make your own... here are the directions.
Supplies Needed
foam Disc- 5 7/8"X 15/16"
pencils
wooden dowel
asphaltum americana paint/paintbrush
glue gun/glue
vase
Here is how to make a Sunburst Sunflower:
Step 1:Paint your foam disc and wooden dowel with the brown paint. Let dry.
Step 2: Stuff pencils into the side of the foam disc.
Step 3: Hot glue the wooden dowel in the bottom of the foam disk.
Step 4: Put into vase and display.
Here is my DIY Sunburst Sunflower on display...
This would make a great teachers gift as well. Tie a cute ribbon around it and viola. I am sure they are always in need of pencils.
Hope the first few days or weeks of this school year are going well.
Good Luck Teachers....
Good Luck Students...
AND most importantly...
Good Luck Parents!!!
Happy School Year!
