Five Star Salsa

As I was grocery shopping this last week, I thought to myself we need some salsa. We have been out of salsa for quite some time and I can't get myself to buy some from the store. You see salsa is a staple in our home. We use it often in our meals, and love to have it as a snack. I am sure like you, we love a good salsa! We have tried so many different kinds of salsas at restaurants, stores, Costco, etc.  I think we have grown to love this homemade Five Star Salsa. I usually try and make it on a biweekly schedule, but like I said it has been way too long. So... I decided to make some.
I wanted to share this simple recipe with you... because we love it so much and it is so easy to make. What is nice about this salsa is that you can make it as mild or as hot as you would like. Lets say you like mild salsa, mix up a batch by adding just a little bit of jalapeƱos and then remove some of the salsa for you and then add the rest of the can for whomever likes it hot! Win-Win Situation!
We give it 5 stars for sure!!

Five Star Salsa
By Carrie Perrins

2 (28 oz) diced tomatoes- I like to use only one can and then add 3-4 fresh tomatoes.
1/2 of a white onion
1 handful of fresh cilantro- I have used dehydrated cilantro. It reconstitutes in the salsa.
2 tiny cans green chilies
1 can diced jalapeƱos- I only add 1/2 of the can for my family!
3 tsp. salt
4 squeezes lime juice
1/3 cup white sugar

Put all ingredients into a food processor and mix. Serve.

As I type this yummy recipe out, couldn't help myself by snacking on some. He He.
This Five Star Salsa stays fresh in my fridge for about a week if it lasts that long, seriously.
What is your favorite salsa?? Store bought or homemade??  Hot or mild??

You must try this Five Star Salsa and rate it, and once you do you will know that is definitely a Five Star Salsa!

Enjoy!

  1. I can't help it but want to comment on your every post lately :)) I don't even remember last time we bought salsa. I wasn't a big fan of salsa to begin with, especially if it was super hot. Then I tried to make my own, recipe similar to yours but we also add garlic. Turned out to be so easy like you said. Now we only use homemade salsa, and I love it :) I usually use Rotel tomatoes with chilies (mild), but it can still be pretty spicy (which my husband loves). I need to try your recipe since it's easier to control the spiciness. Thanks for sharing!
