Berry Slush

Berry Slush... also known as a slushie. I love slushies. They are a mixture between a drink and a frozen drink. Most of you are familiar with a Slurpee or an ICEE... but this is something a little bit different. You don't need an expensive machine to make these. Yes... you can make this Berry Slush at home and serve it at your next BBQ or potluck.
This makes up about 5 quarts... so you can half the recipe if desired. But... for a big party or celebration it makes the perfect amount.

Here is the recipe:

Berry Slush
By Carrie Perrins
*Adapted from Taste of Home

1 package (3oz) berry blue or raspberry gelatin
2 cups boiling water
2 cups sugar
1 can (46oz) pineapple juice
2 liters ginger ale
4 1/2 cups cold water
1 cup lemon juice
Blue or red food coloring

In a large container, dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in sugar until dissolved. Add pineapple juice, ginger ale, water, and lemon juice. Add food coloring. (I had to add a lot of food coloring to get this color.)  Freeze for at least 6 hours. The longer the better.
Remove from freezer 20 minutes before serving. Stir so that the mixture with be slushy.

To be honest... I actually only had a sip of this Berry Slush... because I have been off of carbonation for the past 3 years. I don't drink the stuff. But.. I had to taste it. It does taste really good. If I did drink carbonation I would be all over this Berry Slush.  However, my kids... drank it up, and ended up with blue tongues.
I love how they ask me if their tongue is blue! Duh? I don't tell them that... I just look at them with a smile on my face and say yea... your tongue is blue.

A Berry Slush is the perfect blue drink for your party or celebration. It makes a bunch and it is a nice frozen drink.
Enjoy!
