My mother and mother-in-law have always used Roaster Ovens, especially around the holidays. It is so nice for big family gatherings. My husband comes from a family of 13 and I come a family of 8. We love our families!! I was given a Roaster Oven by my sister-in-law for Christmas several years ago. We have used the Roaster Oven for so many different occasions. It is just like an oven. You can find them almost anywhere, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. Check out Amazon's Roaster Oven here. You can make so many things in them. My sister-in-law makes AHMAZING meatballs in hers, my husband makes AHMAZING ribs in ours. Yea, we like our Roaster Oven!!
What is nice is about the oven is it is portable. You can put it outside, in the garage, on the counter top, etc. The reason I wanted to use my Roaster Oven is to free up my conventional oven for the potatoes and rolls.
Recipe: Roaster Oven Honey Baked Ham
By Carrie Perrins
Ham of your choice (10-12lbs.)
1 1/2 cups of Apple Juice (our secret ingredient)
1/2 cup Dijon Mustard
2/3 cup packed Brown Sugar
1/4 cup of Honey
Here are the 8 easy steps to Roast your Ham:
1. Preheat the Roaster Oven to 325F.
2. Place the ham in 9x13 pan.
3. Cover ham with parchment paper and then with tinfoil. Make sure the tinfoil is in no way touching the ham. Place the pan in bottom of the Roaster Oven.
4. Bake the ham according to the weight of your ham.
See the Ham for detailed cooking instructions. (I cooked mine for 3 1/2 hours.)
5. The last half hour of baking time remove the parchment paper and tinfoil, discard. Then rub the mustard into the ham. Pat the Brown Sugar into the mustard and rub again all over ham. Drizzle honey over the ham. (You can combine all of them and then use a pastry brush to brush all over ham if you prefer not to get your hands dirty.)
6. Return to the oven and cook for an additional 1/2 hour.
7. Remove the ham from the oven and let sit for about 1/2 hour so that the juices absorb.
8. Slice and serve.
This ham was so moist and delicious! Hope you Enjoy it! I hope you and your family has a wonderful Easter.
