Hey Friends... Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. This blog post will conclude Mother's Day Week on the blog. I had so much fun sharing my ideas with you. It was extra special because my mom was in town to spend the week with me and my family and she got to be here and be apart of all of these wonderful Mother's Day Ideas.
Today I am sharing... How to Spray Paint a T-Shirt. You see this is a funny story. I had today's blog post all planned out on How to Dry Flowers. I had my flowers drying outside on the back patio underneath a cement block for the last week. I knew they would be dry just in time to demonstrate them. Well.... My little 5 year old daughter needed the cement block to play "house" outside. Somehow the cement block got moved, and my flowers thrown into the trash. Urggg! I went outside to get them today and they were no where to be found, except in the trash can. They could not be saved. I had to then go back to the drawing board as this was my final post for Mother's Day Week.
Then this came to me... I wanted to bleach a T-Shirt. I didn't have any bleach on hand. So... long story short, My mother gave me this idea. She had done this with a bunch of girls for a camp. She had spray painted T-Shirts for girls camp. I loved the idea. I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I whipped out the Freezer Paper that I had bought over 2 years ago that sat in my pantry, because I had seen this on pinterest and all over blog land, and at that time I went and bought some freezer paper but had never used it once.
I printed out BEST MOM EVER from my computer onto computer paper. I then traced it onto the Freezer Paper. I heard you could just print onto the freezer paper but some said it didn't work for them, and so I didn't want to risk it.
After cutting out all my letters from the Freezer Paper, I took some cardboard and covered it with more freezer paper to stick inside the shirt, so that it would not leak through.
I stuck it inside the shirt.
At this point, I taped the lettering to the front of the shirt with blue painters tape, making sure it was centered and straight. I ironed the freezer paper. To me, this was so cool!! I have never used freezer paper before and it stuck right to the shirt. It acted like a stencil.
My favorite color to wear right now is yellow. I have always loved the color gray and so I choose these two colors for my shirt. Now, you could use any color that you would prefer! Notice that I did not cover my whole shirt with freezer paper. You should, you see the spray paint goes everywhere. I have a few lines on my shirt, but luckily they are not too noticeable.
I spray painted the word BEST first and then let it dry for about 10-15 minutes. I then took some more freezer paper and covered the other half of the shirt and spray painted the word EVER. I learned after the fact, that you want to spray lightly. Do not spray to much paint, it leaks through. If you have to you can come back and spray another coat, then that is fine, but if you spray to much even though you have ironed your pattern onto the shirt with freezer paper it still can leak through.
After I spray painted the word EVER, I waited 10-15 minutes for it to dry and then I spray painted the word MOM.
I loved being able to use freezer paper. It held for the most part.
It turned out so cute! I love it!
Now... I chose these words to inspire me to be the best mom ever. I don't claim to be a perfect mom, but being a mom has been the greatest blessing in my life. I love my girls and they deserve the best of me.I am so excited to make more Spray Painted T-Shirts. It is going to be so much fun!
I hope that this post will inspire you to be the BEST MOM EVER!!
Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!
