I know today is May 7 and I am a little behind in getting this Mantle done, but for good reasons. I have needed some time and inspiration to finish it. I have had conflicts in how I was going to decorate my mantle this month. May is such a busy month. Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, School gets out, and spring is almost over for us Arizonan's. I decided to go with a Mother Daughter themed Mantle. I love being a mom to my girls and they are so adorable.
Here is my mantle:
The banner is a pennant banner shape that I cut out with scissors and then I printed some 5x7 photos on photo sheets from the dollar store of me and my girls, and whole punched the corners of each and strung it on jute and then tied pink and yellow ribbons in between the burlap and pictures.
For the left side of my mantle I got two bottles from Goodwill and spray painted them white. I had the candlestick holder and candle, but then I needed some color because of them all being white. I spray painted the candle. I just taped it off and spray painted it Sun Yellow. It was so easy and I love how it turned out. I bought the flower from Michaels and the pink ribbon I had on hand.
The right side of my mantle was just stuff I had on hand. My mother gave me this Willow Tree Mother and Daughter when I had my first daughter Bo. You can find it here on Amazon. The Birth...day Picture Frame, I had taken and old red frame and primed and painted it white and then sanded the edges. I was on Pinterest the other night and fell in love with this Painted Burlap Canvas, but I knew that I couldn't do that because I don't have a stencil. So... I improvised.
Several months ago I ordered My Memories and love it!! It is a wonderful software. I highly recommend it! One of the custom backgrounds is burlap! I just made this printable with the burlap background and my daughters birthdays. I will always remember those days. Each one of those days is very special to me because I became a mother. I love my little girls!
The lantern I got from Michaels and I also got the potted boxwood topiary from there as well. I have been swooning over these for sometime. I am so happy I could get them with a 40% coupon! Yea!
The big metal flower I got from Michaels last year from their summer clearance sale. The big magnet board I have had sitting in my office closet for the past five years. I bought it so long ago but never really used it. I taped off the magnet part and spray painted it Sun Yellow and then hung the flower over it.
I love it!
I hope that you have a wonderful month of May!
So cute! I love MEANINGFUL and beautiful decor!
