Cookie Salad

I am very hesitant in sharing this recipe with you. It is my favorite fruit salad recipe of all time. My family and friends know what it is. It is the best... Cookie Salad. They call me to get the recipe. I am not kidding this is the best fruit salad of all time. If you know me... I love cakes, cookies, desserts, etc. Hence... cookies added to this fruit salad is like heaven!
This Cookie Salad is perfect for your BBQ's, your Pot-Luck Sunday dinners, your book club meetings, you name it... this cookie salad will be the hit of the party. I almost want to call it Carrie's Cookie Salad... but nope I will keep it simple.
I changed my mind- I will call it Carrie's Cookie Salad!

If you choose to call it Cookie Salad...just remember to give me credit when your friends come calling to get the recipe from you...because they will! I promise!!

Here is the award winning recipe:

Cookie Salad
By Carrie Perrins

1 tub cool whip
1 instant vanilla pudding
1 cup buttermilk
1 can pineapple chunks, drained
1-2 cans mandarin oranges, drained
1 can fruit cocktail, drained
1 pkg. E.L Fudge® cookies, broken into pieces

Directions:
Mix cool whip, pudding, and buttermilk in a large bowl. Add drained fruit. Just before serving, break up cookies into tiny pieces and add to bowl. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.

** Here are some tips that I have learned over the years with this salad.**
1.You can use either a large or small tub of cool whip. It doesn't matter.
2. The instant vanilla pudding is not made up. When you mix it, mix the dry powder.
3. Do not substitute the buttermilk for a "homemade" version. It is not the same.
4. You must drain the fruit. If you don't... the salad is too runny.
5.You can use pineapple tidbits as well.
6. You can add the cookies when you are making the salad, you don't have to wait until you serve the salad, either way is good.
7. You can used "double stuffed" E.L. Fudge® cookies as well. They just have fewer cookies in the package, but you get double the chocolate.
8. You must refrigerator for at least an hour, for the ingredients to set up. We have come to love this salad the next day, almost better. The cookies are moist and mixed in.

My Cookie Salad is my favorite recipe. I love this recipe. It is heaven on earth. I have so many family memories with this salad. It has become a family favorite.

I hope that you enjoy this Cookie Salad. Make it for your next event, just remember to call it Carrie's Cookie Salad!

Have a Happy Day!
