Star Dip

For my very first post on my Red, White and Blue Patriotic Posts I thought I would share with you an appetizer to start the party!   This Star of the Party Dip is well... A Star!

You will want to take this dip to your next party! It will be the star! I love this dip and believe me when I say that you won't be able to stop eating it. It will be gone before you know it!

Here is my Star of the Party Dip Recipe:

Star Dip
By Carrie Perrins

1 can (16 ounces) pinto beans, undrained
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tsp. vinegar
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/8 to 1/4 tsp. liquid smoke, optional
Dash of cayenne pepper

1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (4.25) can of chopped olives
2-3 small tomatoes or 1 large tomato-chopped

Puree beans in a food processor; pour into a heavy saucepan. Add the next seven ingredients; cook over low heat until the cheese is melted, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a 9 inch pie pan. Let cool. Once it has cooled down, spread container of sour cream over beans. Add tomatoes in a star shape. Then... outline the tomato star with chopped olives.
Serve with blue tortilla chips.

*Hints... the star is hand made by me. It is not a perfect form. If you want a perfect form you could use a cutout of some sort or a stencil, etc. Spread the sour cream very carefully. Try not to mix it into the beans. You could also use sliced olives if you prefer. Add whatever else you think you might like... cheese, green onions, avocado, etc. I just wanted a Red, White, and Blue Party Dip.

I love this dip. I would highly recommend adding the liquid smoke. It gives it a unique flavor. Yummmy!

Sorry... I didn't get pictures of the next few steps. I need to do a better job. This is all new to me... so I need to stop and take pictures of every step. Next time... for sure! But here is the finally product... isn't she beautiful?

I hope that you enjoy this Star of the Party Dip... I know I did.
Happy 4th of July!
Carrie
