Flag Pinwheel Hair Bow

You know those $1 little flags you can get anywhere? I made one into a Flag Pinwheel Hair Bow.
I really liked how it turned out. Pinwheels are very cute and very trendy right now... and so I incorporated it into a hair bow. In a house full of girls hair bows are always needed! Here are the instructions and directions to make your own.

*Pinwheel Instructions adapted from leslietryon

Supplies:
$1 flag
Paper cutter or rotary cutter
pencil
hot glue gun
scissors

Directions:

Step 1: Cut off the flag from the wooden pole.
Step 2: Trim the cut flag... to give it an even straight line. But...don't cut off any stars.
Step 3: Cut your flag into a 4x4 square.
Step 4: Fold your square corner to corner and unfold. It should give you a big X when you have folded the two corners.
Step 5: Mark with a pencil a little line about 1/3 of the way from the center.

Step 6: Cut with scissors along fold line up until the pencil mark.

Step 7: Hot glue every other corner down in the center.
Step 8: Hot glue an embellishment over the center of the folded/glued pieces. I used a glitter foam sticker. Hot glue a double prong alligator clip to the back of the Flag Pinwheel.

There is your finished Flag Pinwheel Hair Bow in 8 easy steps.
Here is my sweet daughter Bree... being our model again. She actually loves this kind of stuff and is there with me every step of the way.

Now wasn't that easy! It is also very cute and frugal! I really loved how they turned out. My girls we be sportin (is that even a word?) the Flag Pinwheel Hair Bow on the 4th!

Happy Independence Day!

  1. How cute & frugal! Little bows like this are so expensive at the stores so this is the perfect solution! This would be the perfect project to link up to my blog hop. Would you mind to stop by and link up? Thanks for stopping by Carrie This Home!
