Christmas Front Door Sign

I have been decorating my home for Christmas. My front porch was in need of a desperate makeover. I had two wreaths hanging on the door (that I made last year) and that was it! It needed more!
I set one afternoon aside and got to work.

First... I put up some garland all around my two doors. (I got the garland last year from Michael's. I cut some 6 ft strands in half to fit the doorway.)
Next... I added some small Christmas trees to some empty pots.
I love how it added some color to my front door!

Then I needed a sign for the front door.

I have been listening to Christmas music. I love this time of year... just for the music. One of my favorite songs right now is Carol of the Bells. I have listened to it over and over.
Do you do that? Do you get a song stuck in your head and listen to it over... and over... and over??
I do.
Carol of the Bells. was. that. song.

It inspired me to make my front door sign.
Ding Dong... Christmas... is here!

Christmas Front Door Sign

By Carrie Perrins

  • a piece of wood
  • red spray paint
  • black vinyl
  • cutting machine
  • mod podge/disposable paint brush
Directions:
1. Spray paint your wood with red spray paint. Let dry.
2. Cut out the saying, Ding Dong Christmas is Here with your cutting machine.
3. Attach vinyl lettering to your piece of wood.
4. Mod Podge over the entire piece of wood and let dry.

Now... I have a Cricut Mini and this was my first time cutting out vinyl. It was a good learning experience. I can say I like vinyl. It is neat. But I can also say that it takes patience to cut out vinyl.
Getting the vinyl on my mat and for it not to bubble up was tricky.
Once it was cut... it was tedious to attach all the letters to my sign (in fact don't look to close, I don't think I put them all on straight.)
I have not used the transfer method with vinyl and that might be easier, but I just used what I had on hand.
My board was also a different shape, so I had to work around that.
Any-who's... it turned out adorable!!

My baby Jayd... was hanging out with me while I worked and she was cute trying to reach the door bell.
Ding Dong... Christmas is here!

I hope you all have a very
Merry Christmas!!
Because Christmas is here... in fact in only 11 more days.
Crazy!

Happy Day-
Carrie
