I am going to interrupt these regularly scheduled posts from the baby shower to give you these....
Snack Jars
I was at a friends house one night for dinner and noticed these snack jars on her counter. They were filled with different crackers, pretzels, treats, and such. Her kids kept getting into them, and then and there I fell in love with the idea!
I knew I wanted to recreate that in my home. The next day I went shopping for the jars. I am not sure what size of jars hers were, but I found my at Target.
Every day after school the girls would come home and stand in the pantry asking for snacks. It seemed to bother me. Not anymore. If they are hungry they know where to go. I hardly hear I am hungry any more. In fact, I hear the jar lids rattling now. It makes me happy.
You can fill your jars with anything. Healthy or unhealthy. I have switched out my treats on a monthly basis. I try new and different treats so they don't get bored with the same snacks.
I have put Hershey's chocolate kisses in them each month and they love them. I have had to limit those to two or three a day. But... the other snacks they can get and eat as much as they want.
This time I decided I wanted to go with an all pink theme. We went with pink pretzels, iced animal crackers, kisses, and strawberry wafers. The wafers were a big hit! I had to go and buy more. If you look close in these picture you will notice the wafers are really low. I had filled them up in the morning and by the afternoon they were gone, before I could even get pictures of them.
I found this clock chalkboard at Target a couple of years ago. I have had it in my kitchen, but not written on. I used the font KG Two is better than one, and used this technique from Beautiful Hello Blog to write on my chalkboard.... Snack Time.
I loved how it turned out!!
Do you ever do that? Have an idea in your head and then never get around to doing it. Then finally one day... it is that day and you complete the project. I was so excited when it was all completed!!!
These snack jars are a hit in my home. When family and friends come over... the lids are rattling. The snacks are being eaten!
Why not make some for your home??
Happy snacking!
Carrie
