I have an iPhone. I love my iPhone. I love to play on my iPhone. The other day I was playing around on the Phonto app. I was tired of the same old fonts. I wanted to add some different fonts to a photo I was creating. Down at the bottom, I recognized this button called my fonts. I clicked on it and it stated that I could download my own fonts to the phone. This got me really excited. I simply followed the directions right on my phone and downloaded the ttf font files to the phonto app through iTunes and the new fonts appeared.
THIS WAS AWESOME!
I love to add different fonts to my pictures, my photos, my instagram posts etc. This has changed my game on instagram. I am now able to download any font I want to use, and add it to any creation of mine.
Here are the step-by-step directions:
How to install custom fonts onto your phone using iTunes
By Carrie Perrins
*adapted right from the phonto app on my iPhone
Directions:
- Using iTunes, you can copy font files between your computer and apps on your iOS devices.
- Connect your iOS device to your computer using the included Dock Connector to USB cable.
- Launch iTunes 9.1 or later on your computer.
- Select your iOS device from the Devices section of iTunes.
- Click the Apps tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
- Select the "App" from the file sharing section.
- Add the "ttf" or ".otf" font files into that application.
- Once you have added all the font files you would like simply restart that app.
- Your new fonts should appear.
**This was something I did on my mac, I don't have a personal computer... so I am not sure if it is the same process.**
I went to my applications folder and opened up the font book app.
Click on File and then Export Collection to your document folder. Name it something that you can remember.. like font love.
Once it has been saved as a file on your computer... Open up iTunes and click on your iOS device.
Scroll down to the bottom to File Sharing.
Click on the add button. Then pull up your saved "font love" file on your computer.
Then click the add button. It will pull up the "ttf or the ".otf" files. Add as little as one font to as many as you would like to your phone. You may have to add one at a time.... that is how it worked for me.
Then click done.
Thats it!!!
You have now downloaded some new amazing fonts to your phone. Success!
Which fonts will you be downloading to your device??
Happy Friday-
Carrie
